2019

March of 2019, I left my receptionist job and started teaching myself graphic design. I had gone to an art focused high school and I always knew the best way forward for me was graphic design. I just had to figure out which niche. Graphic design has loads of options to explore and sometimes it can be hard to find your perfect match. There’s UI/UX design, logo and brand design, digital illustration, typography design, iconography, general graphics and more! Ironically, I immediately wrote-off typography, logo and brand design and decided to learn UI/UX. It was good for a while but I felt that it was restrictive and I wanted more freedom, and that’s when I shifted to digital illustration and iconography. I started freelancing at a start-up making illustrations and icons and I was loving it!

2020 - 2021

2020 meant massive changes everywhere and for everyone. Luckily for me, I had already been working remotely before COVID-19 and so my day-to-day life didn't change that much. I continued in my job, growing as a designer.

The start of 2021 was when everything flipped on it's head. I found myself in the front seat of the rollercoaster of life. At this point, the start-up I was at grew insanely quickly and the design team had become very saturated, very fast. I noticed I was getting less and less work which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because shortly after my work dried up, I lost someone very close to me. It was my first time having to grieve and I felt incredibly lost. But, this was truly a rollercoaster, so here comes the up! In May of 2021, I got married to my best friend in the whole world and in June after rediscovering brand design, I spontaneously decided to start my Instagram, you know, just to give it a go! Well, thank God I did because my life changed forever, in the best possible way! Previously I had assumed that brand and logo design was always boring and stiff (think Microsoft or literally any bank in the world) but the brand design community on Instagram and YouTube blew my mind and changed my world completely! I immediately knew I had found it - my niche in graphic design and my calling! It was everything I was looking for!

TODAY

I can honestly say that I have never been this happy or this confident in my life. I love my work and am so grateful that I get to do it every single day. It's true what they say, love what you do and never work a day in your life. That is exactly how I feel and I’m so blessed to have so many incredible opportunities and to be able to work with some truly awesome people all over the world. I'm so excited to see where life continues to take me!
